Complete Homicide Investigations (5-Day)
This is an intense, comprehensive 5-day homicide investigations class designed to take you from the initial call-out to court. On day one, a state Medical Examiner will go through causes of death; nature and cause of injuries, decomposition, physical & trace evidence, etc. On days 2, 3, & 4, two experienced homicide investigators will go through all the steps of homicide investigations from start to finish, making liberal use of crime scene photos, videos, and case studies. The final day will be taught by an experienced prosecutor who will present a homicide jury trial and give investigative tips and ideas from the prosecution/court perspective, as well as how to effectively work with your prosecutor. Even if your agency does not utilize this approach, you will be able to use the concepts you learn in this course to successfully investigate an OIS.
